2015 is shaping up to be the biggest year in movie box office history. The likes of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Star Wars, Fast 7 and Minions have been or are expected to earn big dollars at the global box office. But now we are gonna look ahead at some of the movies that will hitting the big screen in 2016 instead and the roster looks mighty creamy from this far off. Here are our eight most anticipated movies of 2016.
1: Star Trek Beyond: The Enterprise crew returns to cinemas in time to mark the 50th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise. The last two movies were very well received commercially as well as critically along with the inclusion of Idris Elba as the nemesis makes this a much awaited entry.
2: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them: When Harry Potter ended, we weren’t expecting to get pulled back into his magical world anytime soon. But now we do get to return to the magical world of Harry Potter this time with a new protagonist and a fascinating array of possibilities.
3: Deadpool: The Merc with a mouth has long been rooting for a solo big screen appearance and now fanboys are finally going to get to enjoy Deadpool in all his foul-mouthed glory with Ryan Reynolds suiting up to do his dream role.
4: Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice: Marvel’s supremacy in the comic book movie landscape means that Warner Bros. and DC now are being forced to play catch up. They are doing that in a big way with Dawn Of Justice; pitting two of the world’s most famous superheroes against each other with Aquaman and Wonderwoman acting as ancillaries and Lex Luthor playing the big bad, this one is going to sell.
5: Captain America: Civil War: Marvel’s answer to Dawn of Justice. Choke loaded with Marvel stars including Iron Man, Captain America, Spider Man, Ant Man among others, this vehicle will serve as the introduction of Marvel’s iteration of Spiderman after succeeding in agreeing a historical deal with Sony.
6: Warcraft: Number one of the two massively promising video game adaptations coming out in 2016, Warcraft is a labor of love. Initial images and trailer suggest that Duncan Jones may finally have succeeded in making a successful video game adaptation, atleast critically, its commercial prospects remain unknown until marketing starts to kick in and we see more flashes of the finished product.
7: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story: Felicity Jones leads this Star Wars spin off being directed by Gareth Edwards. Not much is know about this film at the moment except that it focuses on a heist designed to steal The Death Star’s blueprints. But just being a Star Wars film gets this film on this list.
8: Suicide Squad: The second major DC adaptation set for 2016, Suicide Squad is a wild card entry into the comic book movie section. It is already generating tons of buzz due to Jared Leto’s intense transformation in order to play the Joker as well as its focus on the villains instead of the heroes makes this a very big curiosity at the moment, one we definitely want to see.
